Still Alive By Jasio Published: April 9, 2008
I'm still alive! Anime-Wiki is moving along nicely and closing in on 1000 articles of "true" content. A few months back Jasio.Net became involved in The-Junkyard.Net and now fully hosts the gaming network. Hopefully some interesting things on the horizon. Read More...

Still Around By Jasio Published: October 25, 2005
Eh, after a few days of downtime, the backend has been upgraded once again for Jasio.net in order to fix some bugs and decrease load-times (more efficent code-base). Apart from that, Anime-Wiki.Org (www.anime-wiki.org) aka. Daifuku Project is still around, and it's doing fine, albeit updates are rather slow, at least something is happening. Theora Theory - The Forgotten Codec By Jasio Published: August 30, 2005

It seems many fansub groups are jumping at the idea of using H.264 to encode their videos with "greater quality." What they fail to perceive is the legal consequences of their actions, and the fact that they can be easily sued from within North America and Europe for patent infringement and failure to operate the encoder with a license, and without paying royalities.

It makes use of 2 patented technologies, VP3 and On2, however both VP3 and On2 have provided Theora with an IRREVOCABLE, FREE license to use Theora in both commercial and non-commercial environments. What does that mean? It mean's you are not infringing on any international copyrights and patents, nor are you expected to pay any licensing or royalties.
So why don't fansubbers use it? Because they generally lack any sort of common sense. And that's a fact.
